Henry BRYER's Will 1833

I, Henry BRYER, of Margate in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent do make this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former other wills by me at any time before made. I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane BRYER the sum of two thousand two hundred pounds of the stock now standing in my name in the three and a half percent robured (?) annuities I likewise give and bequeath unto her all my household property linen books paintings plate china etc. and whatever balances may be due to me from the Banking House of Messrs Glynn & Co London and Messrs Cobb & Son Margate out of which sums I will that she shall pay all my just debts (which do not now amount to thirty pounds) and my funeral expenses. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mrs Alice SOWARD my life policy in the Joope (?) Insurance London with the Bounfoss Bacon (?). I likewise bequeath unto her Mr Gorbers Bond to me that she may receive from him the amount remaining unpaid and I further leave unto her fifty shares in the General Steam Navigation Company of Lombard Street London. I give and bequeath to my Grandson Edward BRYER the sum of one hundred pounds with all the dividends that may be therein percod (?) in my stock in the three and a half percent robured (?) annuities when he shall attain the age of twenty one years. I give and bequeath to my cousin John Abraham my gold watch chain etc attached thereto and I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane BRYER (now residing with me) twenty-four shares in the Grand Surrey Canal forty-four shares in the Joope (?) Insurance and one hundred pounds in the three and a half percent Rebured Annuities in trust for the following purposes (that is to say) that the dividends arising therefrom shall be paid to my daughter Mrs Alice Soward as they become due and that her receipt alone whether sole or rooert (?) shall be a good and effectual discharge for such dividends by that in case of her death the said dividends I will to be paid to the children of my daughter Mrs Alice Soward until they shall all have attained the age of twenty one years when the whole sum shall be paid over share and share alike to the survivors and if but one the whole sum shall pass to that sole survivor and I hereby nominate and appoint my daughter Jane BRYER to be my sole Executrix and Residuary Legatee and do declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I Henry Bryer the testator have set my hand and seal at the bottom of this page this twelfth day of June in the year of our lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Two Signed sealed published and declared by me Henry Bryer as and for my last will and testament in the presence of Elizabeth GARLAND - Henry Bryer Signed Sealed and delivered in my presence - Elizabeth Garland.

Appeared personally James ARDING of Jorest (?) Street Fleet Street in the City of London Builder and made oath that he knew ? and was well acquainted with Henry Bryer late of Margate in the County of Kent deceased and he also knows and is well acquainted with his manner and character of hand writing and subscription having several times seen him write and also write and subscribe his name and having now with care and attention viewed and perused the paper writing hereunto annoosed? purporting to be and contain the laste will and testament of the said deceased the said will beginning thus "I Henry Bryer of Margate in the Isle of Thanet in the County of Kent" ending thus "In witness whereof I Henry Bryer the testator have set my hand and seal at the bottom of this page this twelfth day of June in the year of our lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Two" and thus subscribed "Henry Bryer" he lastly made oath that he doth verily and in his conscience believe the whole body series and routcuts? of the said will and the subscription thereto to be the proper handwriting & subscription of the said Henry Bryer deceased. Proved at London 20th July 1833 before the worshipful William Robinson Dr of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Jane BRYER Spinster the daughter and sole executrix to whom admon was granted being first sworn to administer.
