Who They Were

John and Amelia are a mystery, and the only evidence I have that they are the parents of "my" John Henry is that John Henry said he was born in 1814 and that he named one of his daughters Amelia. Tenuous at best. I have searched in the available online indexes and so far have not found a marriage for a John and Amelia, nor a death for either of them. They may have had another child, a daughter Eliza (she was the only family witness on John Henry's marriage certificate), but I have been unable to find any records for her either. Needless to say, I have no clue as to why John Henry has a third name Cape; it seemed reasonable to assume that it was his mother's maiden name, but I can't find any Amelia Cape, nor Cope, born within a reasonable timeframe.
