Where They Lived
The first son, James John, was born at 1 Frances Street Soho.
The burial entry for John Robert notes the abode as 9 College Street St Luke's Chelsea.
Their third child died in infancy in 1849 and their address at the time was given as June Street St Luke's Chelsea.
At the time of the 1851 Census, the family lived at 2 Crescent Place, Holy Trinity Brompton.
There is no further information after 1852, until, by chance, the parish registers of St Leonard Wallingford, OXF revealed a child born to James Curtis BRYER, gilder, and wife Elizabeth, at that time, 1875, living in Goldsmiths Lane Wallingford. Did James move so far away from Pancras when he remarried? The following year, 1876, he died aged 59. His unusual middle name and his relatively unusual trade identifies him positively.
When his son John Thomas was married in 1877 he gave his father as "deceased".
