Cecil Foster

Cecil Foster
Cecil was born Cecil LONG, on 25 April 1924, to Georgina Annie LONG, a housemaid residing at 55 Harvest Road, Englefield Green, Egham, SRY. No father is given on the birth certificate. The birth took place at Crimp Hill House, Old Windsor. Crimp Hill House was the original Windsor Workhouse, renamed. When I was born there, many years later, it was the Maternity Hospital for the Windsor area, and more recently has been turned into luxury houses and apartments.
Cecil was in the Royal Air Force, stationed in Yorkshire [possibly Catterick Bridge, Dishforth or Leeming Bar - information from Pat McNaughton nee Hudson]. I think I have identied his marriage to Henny, in 1945 in Brussels, Belgium. It would appear that this marriage was performed within the British Armed Forces, as it is indexed in the GRO Index of Army Marriages. According to her death certificate, Henny's maiden name was Henriette Adrienne ELOOT, born in Paris in 1924; she died on 8 Dec 2008, in Tylorstown, Rhondda, Wales, where she had lived for many years. There are still many questions to be answered about Cecil.
