Tavistock Mews in 1894

Tavistock Mews was one of the many mews streets in St Giles which provided stabling for the large houses of the area. Some of the stables were used by independent cab proprietors who plied a trade in Holborn and St Giles, and a room or two over the stables meant that they had housing for their families.

Although many of these streets and squares can be seen today, much of the area was bombed during World War II and sadly Tavistock Mews can no longer be found.
