Who They Were

William travelled some distance to find a bride; Burghfield is not contiguous to Pamber, where he appears to have been living at the time of his marriage, and for some years afterwards. I have only tracked down these five children, and some of the data is surmise. John, my ancestor, gave his place of birth to the 1851 census enumerators as Burghfield Berkshire. He may very well have been born there but he was definitely baptised at, and lived in, Pamber. The year of birth fits with his age at death, and the age he gave in 1851, and there were no other John Butlers born around that time, so I am reasonably certain I have found the right connection.
