Jack Pateman and his bride Edith

Jack and Edith Pateman

This is the wedding photograph of Jack Pateman and Edith, taken by a photographer in the Holloway Road, London N7. I am not sure of the year but Jack is still wearing his army uniform, so it could be during or shortly after the war. Does this photograph strike a chord with anyone? Pat McNaughton tells me that Jack was in the Regimental Band of the Kings Own Scottish Borderers, and was stationed at Berwick upon Tweed.
My father told me of the tragic story of Jack. He and Edith had a daughter Joan. The family had just left for their summer holiday in Cornwall, sometime in the mid-1950s, in Jack's motorcycle and sidecar, when Joan found that she had left her favourite teddy-bear behind. They returned home to collect the teddy and were involved in an accident at Yeovil, which killed both Jack and Joan. Ken Turner tells me that Edith survived and went on to remarry. Does anyone know what happened to her? Can anyone elaborate on this story?
