Additional Information
As yet I have only found the GRO index entry for the marriage of John and Ellen. From examination of censuses, it would appear they had no children.
In the 1861 census, John and Ellen were living in Bentley, with a lodger James Rampton, aged 20, no place of birth given. I'm not sure who this James is, as I have no James Rampton born around 1841 who is not accounted for elsewhere in 1861.
In the 1871 census, John and Ellen were still living in Bentley, this time with 3 year old Hester M WEBSTER, born in London and a boarder.
In the 1881 Census, they were living in Bentley, and had Ellen's brother William VINCE lodging with them as well as two children, Horace CARTER aged 3 and Ernest CARVER aged 2.
By 1891, only one of the children remained with them, Ernest Carver, and he was now described as an adopted son.
In 1901, John is alone, with four lodgers, three of whom were born in Hemyock Devon
