Thanks to the marriage certificate copy supplied by Stephanie Rampton, I know that John Herbert was working as a hotel porter at the Tollard Royal Hotel Bournemouth at the time of his marriage, and Ellen was a chambermaid at the Burlington Hotel Bournemouth. There were no Rampton witnesses to the marriage. The details of their children come from FreeBMD and have not been checked against official sources.
