Additional Information
In 1852, Ann bore a son who she named David Lawrence RAMPTON; a year later she married the father, Henry LAWRENCE. I don't know why she waited so long before marrying him. The marriage certificate says that Henry was a bachelor, so there was no first wife causing the delay. Perhaps, since Ann was only 19 years old at the time of David's birth, her father Charles refused to give his permission for the marriage, and finally relented when she was 20. In the 1861 census, David was now named David Lawrence, and since I have been unable to find anything on David Lawrence RAMPTON's subsequent history, I assume he kept his father's name.
In 1861 the family was living in Tufton Warren Whitchurch; in 1871, they were in Whitchurch with widowed father in law Charles RAMPTON.
In the 1881 Census, the Lawrence family can be found living at Knowle Farm Cottage Whitchurch, next door to James and Laura RAMPTON (Ann's brother and Henry's sister). With them was living their granddaughter Alice JACKSON aged 2, born in Croydon, SRY.
In 1891, Henry was living in Charlest Down Whitchurch with Lucy, Lydia and Henry; there was no Ann listed, but Henry said he was married. In 1901, Henry and Ann are back together again, in Whitchurch; and in 1911, they were still in Whitchurch, this time with grandson Harry (aged 28).
