Children of The Marriage(s)
Who They Were
Thomas seems to have been known as Alfie or Alf most of his life, even on the various census returns. He was 35 before he married, Gladys was 23 at the time; both were working as bench fitters during the war. I can't find that they had any children.
Alfie and Gladys on their wedding day.
Gladys lived for the last few years of her life in Yeovil. She died of Acute Myocardial Ischaemia; her sister, Doris Eileen Macey informed the registrar.
Where They Lived
In 1911, Thomas (Alfie) was living at 30 All Saints Street Islington with his mother and siblings.
In 1928 he lived at the same address with his mother, boarder Frederick Elms, and Florence Phoebe Amelia Pateman (Voter Register). In 1936, Thomas was still living with his mother, Rosina, at 70 Ripplevale Grove Islington, together with Frederick Elms and Florence Pateman. In the 1939 National Register, Thomas Alfred was living at 1 Melgund Road N5 with Florence Phoebe Amelia Pateman, her daughter Florence, and Frederick Elms, his mother Rosina having died in 1937.
In 1943, when they married, Thomas was living at 19 Ronalds Road Highbury, the same address given for Frederick Elms when Fred died in 1944; Gladys was living at 36 Minehead Road South Harrow.
Alfie and his sister Rose (Rosina Charlotte), date unknown.
