Who They Were
Where They Lived
In 1851, Frances, together with her three illegitimate sons, William George and Robert, was living with her widowed father John in Burrow Hill. In 1861, she and husband John were still in Burrow Hill, with children George, Emma, Alice, Mary Ann, and Louisa. A lodger, Joseph Ottaway, widowed, aged 51 and a thatcher, was also living with the family. I'm not yet sure who Joseph was, but it is a fair assumption he was family.
In 1871, Emma, Louisa, and Stephen were still at home in Burrow Hill; Alice was a servant nearby. In 1881, only Stephen remained at home in Burrow Hill; Alice was a servant at Cambridge House Hampton Wick. In 1891, John was a widower, living in Burrow Hill with daughters Alice and Mary Ann, and granddaughter Emma L Ottaway (8).
