Who They Were
Herbert joined the Royal Navy on 18Dec 1905, service number 235487, and was discharged on 1 Dec 1919. In his enlistment papers he was described as 5ft 3 1/2" tall, dark brown hair blue eyes. His service papers tell us he served in China and the East Indies in 1911.
Where They Lived
In 1911 Herbert was serving aboard HMS Venerable moored at Gibraltar as part of the Atlantic Fleet. I have not been able to reliably identify him in any subsequent census.
