Who They Were

On 3 Nov 1915 Robert enlisted in the Royal Navy, rising to Petty Officer before leaving the service in 1929. On 15 May 1930, he returned to UK from Yokahama Japan on the Malwa and was transferred to the Royal Naval Hospital Devonport. In the 1939 National Register Robert is described as Royal Navy Pensioner (Invalid), and a voluntary Air-raid warden. When he died he left £2,203 18s 9d to Kate and to John Adams Haybittle, civil servant. When Kate died, she left £77,088.

Where They Lived

In 1939 Robert and Kate were living at 77 Park View New Malden, and they were at the same address in 1945 when Robert died. Kate died in 1986 at Broadlands Nursing Home 51 Burdon Lane Cheam.
