Additional Information

I cannot find John in 1871 - he certainly was not living at home with his parents, nor does he appear to have been in the Basingstoke area. In 1876, at the time of his marriage, he gave his address as Dorset Road, Lambeth, but neither he nor Elizabeth was living there in 1871. In 1881 they were living in New Town Basingstoke, but they were not in the area in 1891. Given that son Frederick was born in Plymouth in 1890, it is most likely that they had moved to Devon some years before. In 1901, John, Elizabeth and Frederick were living in Okehampton Devon, and Alice was reasonably close, working as a Draper's Assistant in Barnstaple. Lizzie, in 1901, was a forewoman making silk gloves in Great Torrington.

By the time of John's death, in 1929 at Exeter, Frederick had moved to Guildford; he was the informant on John's death certificate, and gave his address as 17 Elmside Onslow Village Guildford.
