Additional Information
In 1881, John was still living at home with his parents, but by 1891 he was living with his young family at 6 Burlop Road Wandsworth. They lived at this address at least until 1895, since son George William was born there. In 1901, they were still in Wandsworth.
In 1911, they were still in Wandsworth, Sarah Jane was listed as Jane, and they had with them Percy, Edgar, George, and Edith.
In 1940, John and Sarah were living at 22 Overton Road, Abbey Wood, Dartford, when the house was (presumably) hit by a bomb during the London Blitz. The only casualty was son Walter Frederick, who was killed; his wife Mary Josephine and their daughter were also in the house. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission citation states that the parents' names were John Edward and Hilda Irene RAMPTON. I don't know where the Edward comes from, and Hilda Irene was the name of Walter's daughter, so perhaps the citation is not very reliable.
I am indebted to Ken Thurley for some of the additional information on this family.
