Additional Information

The 1881 census for this Family Group, as indexed by familysearch, looks like this:

Frederick Rampton Head 24 Kensington
Mary A Rampton Wife 22 Kensington
Ellen Rampton Daughter 0 Kensington

The identity of wife "Mary Ann" in the 1881 census puzzled me for some time, as I could find no marriage of a Frederick to a Mary Ann in the timeframe. Repeated searchs of the GRO and FreeBMD marriages and deaths indexes have turned up no records of either a marriage or a death for those periods. I tried all combinations of her name but had been unable to find her. The IGI has nothing either, nor FindMyPast, nor Ancestry.

I think the 1881 census enumerator got the names of the wife and daughter muddled up, because the GRO and later censuses show the daughter's name is Mary Ann Ellen, and FreeBMD shows that Frederick in fact married Ellen ALLUM in 1879. And because I now know his first wife's name was Ellen, I can find her year of death, 1890.

Frederick and family lived in Kensington for many years, first in Tobin Street then in Bomore Road (see brother Charles' chart). Frederick lived there even after Ellen died, first with Fred Mary and Alice (1891), then with just Frederick (1901). In 1903, he married a widow with three children of her own, and by 1911 the family, consisting of the three Morris children plus three younger ones, had moved to Staines.
