In the 1881 census Agnes is found listed as a "Servant Visitor" at a house in Rickmansworth, HRT, and in the last quarter of 1883 she married in the Watford Registration District.

At the time of the 1891 census, the family was living at New Road All Saint's Rickmansworth. In 1901, they were still in Rickmansworth, but Gertrude and Alice were no longer at home; John James was a clerk at the paper mill. At the time of the 1911 census, the family had moved to Maidstone in Kent.
