Additional Information

In the 1851 Census Charlotte and her two illegitimate sons were living with her widowed father, William. Although the sons are relatively easy to trace, Charlotte's life proved trickier. I am now certain that she married George CRIPPS, because hers is the only marriage I can find for a Charlotte in the timeframe, and the 1861 census states quite clearly that she was born in 1825 in Crux Easton, and there are no other Charlottes that fit that description. I also believe that she died in childbirth along with her unnamed baby boy in the third quarter of 1867 because they appear on the same death register page; the baby's birth was registered but no name was given.

In 1871, son James was a shepherd, living as a lodger in Greywell; the two RAMPTON boys had long flown the nest and had their own families; Eliza was living with aunt Charlotte BRAY (born Overton 1820) in Whitchurch. In 1881, Eliza was living with Earl and his family in Isleworth. The whereabouts of the other children are unknown.
