Additional Information

In 1866, George was living in St Mary's Reading and Martha was in Boxford. In the 1871 census they had made their home in St Mary's and Martha's brother George was living with them. Mary Ann, from her age at the census, appears to have been born before Martha married George, but I have been unable to find her in the GRO under the name ROBERTS or RAMPTON. Martha's maiden name was certainly ROBERTS given the information in the parish register.

It appears tha George died in 1876, aged only 33, and Martha can be found in the 1881 census living in Mill Lane with her 4 surviving children and her brother George. Martha remarried in 1889, to George STEVENS, and they can be found living in Reading St Giles, while son William was working as a baker in Ealing MDX, and George was also a baker living in Brentford MDX.

In 1901, Martha and George STEVENS were still in Reading, this time with son William, now a soldier, living with them.
