Additional Information

John Rampian is still a bit of a mystery. He appears to have been married twice in Leicester, only a short time apart; presumably his first wife died very young, possibly in childbed, but there is no burial record for her, nor for his second wife Anna. Did Anna die and he married Joane within a year? Or was "Joane" a mistake by the parish clerk who should have recorded Anna as the mother but got confused? Was John the John RAMPION who was buried in July 1639? I can't see any other candidates, as they had buried baby son John earlier in the year.

Also, was John related to Richard of Hallaton, or to William of Leicester? They all spelled their surname RAMPIAN, but that may be red herring; they were all born around the same time, but many parishes only started using registers in the mid 16th century, so many births, burials and marriages are forever unrecorded.
