Welcome to my Genealogy Website.
I have been researching my Family Tree for over 20 years and the journey has proved both enlightening and exciting. I hope to cover the whole family eventually, as well as the two One-Name Studies which I have undertaken.
My Butler family forms the bridge between the Ramptons of Hampshire and the Bryers of Islington, London, which met at the marriage of my parents.
I shall eventually include on this site details of the many and varied paths to which my research has taken me. In the Butler section of the website you will find the Family Newsletters that I have been producing at intervals for the amusement of my Cousins and Aunts, three extracts from my Family Tree database covering one of the RAMPTON families of Hampshire, the BUTLER family which married into it, and part of the OTTAWAY family from Surrey. In the Bryer section, you will find my One-Name Study of the surname Bryer; in the Rampton section, my One-Name Study into the Rampton family unfolds.
A Note on how to navigate the Family Charts
Each Family Chart gives information on that family unit only - the parents and the children relating to those parents (where two or marriages are involved, all marriages and all children will be found on the same chart). Where I have information on the family's movements I have included that also.
You reach the Family Chart for a given individual by clicking on the highlighted child's name on the parent's chart.
At the foot of each Family chart (unless it is the top of the family tree) you will see a string of names separated by
> symbols; this is the hierarchy of ancestors. The first named is the father or mother; the second the grandfather or grandmother, and so on. Each name is highlighted and links to the Family Chart of the person named. For instance, this ancestor trail appears on the Family Chart of
Frederick John BRYER:
To return to Frederick's parental chart and see his siblings, click on the first name; to go further back, click on one of the other names. If you are unfamiliar with the family, it is best to work backwards one generation at a time until you find which branch of the tree you are on.
Anywhere you see a highlighted name or a thumbnail photograph, click on it to see either more information on the person, or a larger version of the photograph.
Changes

this page.
Bryer News
If you have visited this site before, you will find
New sections in the BRYER One-Name Study section, in particular a new study of BRYERs in
Dorset and
Suffolk. I have also updated some Family Charts and added new ones where new information has come to light.
Rampton News
I have amended a number of family charts, and added new charts, in the
RAMPTON One-Name Study in particular new pages on the Ramptons in
Tadley &
Froyle, and a completely new section covering the RAMPTONs of the
Basingstoke Registration District. So far I have completed the Parishes of
Worting and
Herriard (and eliminated a number of other parishes which did not have any Rampton events in them). Other Registration Districts have also been examined and outline information provided on
Alton and
Alresford. I have also begun examining
Berkshire,
Oxfordshire, and
London and Middlesex for RAMPTON events.
Hudson/Foster Family News
I have made some more discoveries in the FOSTER family, and have developed a number of linked family charts. These can be found in the
Hudson Section of this website.
