Who They Were
David James seems to have been the author of the entries in the Family Bible which was passed to his brother William Herbert after David's death.
David, like his brother William Herbert, worked for the Post Office as a foreman engineer.
I have been unable to find either a death for Rosina or a marriage for David and Carrie. Rosina was certainly listed in the 1911 census, and Lilian's birth in 1913 was registered with Carrie's name as mother.
Where They Lived
1891 - When his father, James, moved to Egham, David James stayed in Baughurst and appears in the 1891 census living with his grandparents, William and Sarah Butler.
1901 - Carrie was a domestic servant in the home of the Vicar of Purbright.
1911 - Carrie lived with her widowed mother in Egham. David Rosina and James Earnest were living at 48 Walnut Tree Close Guildford.
1915 - at the time of Florence's baptism, David and Carrie gave their address as 5 The Grove Egham, although that was father James Butler's address.
1921 - David and Carrie were living in Woking.
1939 - David and Carrie with daughter Dorothy B Butler at 65 Gloster Road Woking.
1956 - At the time of his death, his place of death was given as 43 The Broadway Knaphill Woking (possibly Brookwood Hospital); the informant on his death certificate was C. Butler causing the body to be buried, of 65 Gloster Road Old Woking.
