Their Children
Who They Were
Cecil Bertram Brown was the son of William Joseph BROWN, a mariner, and his wife Elizabeth Jane SIMS. William and Jane had been married on 21 Nov 1886 at St Mary Stratford Le Bow Tower Hamlets. They had five children in all, but only 2 survived infancy, a daughter Ethel Maud (born 1893 in Bromley KEN) and Cecil (known as Bert). Cecil suffered from Pectus carinatum (commonly called pigeon-chest), a condition resulting from a growth spurt in children that causes the sternum to be pressed outwards. It is a rare condition, affecting about 2 in every 1,000 children and affecting more boys than girls.
Louisa and Cecil married in 1936, when he was 31 and she was 43; they had no children.
