Who They Were

Bessie and Samuel were cousins; he was the son of Emma Stent, and she was the daughter of Emma's brother Thomas Stent.
In 1914, Samuel enlisted in the East Surrey Regiment, service numbers 2007, 240402, and 242774.
Son Ronald enlisted in the East Surrey Regiment on 8 Dec 1941 and served as a Trooper in the Royal Armoured Corps and the 6th Battalion (Royal Northumberland Fusiliers) Royal Tank Regiment, service number 6153604. Ronald is commemorated on the Family War Memorial.

Where They Lived

In 1920, when they married, their address was given as 2 Hill View Cottages St Johns Woking. In 1923, they were living at 37 Selwyn Road with Samuel's brother Frank. In 1939 to 1944 they lived at Holmdene Walton. In 1970 when he died Samuel's address was given as 6 Dagley Farm Shalford near Guildford SRY. His estate amounted to £1,304.
