Additional Information

In 1881, William Ellen and son William were living at 46 Winstanley Road Battersea (Ellen has been wrongly transcribed as Eliza in this index). In 1891, the three were living at 8 Currie Street Battersea. In 1901, only William and Ellen were still living in Battersea, William George having married and moved to East Molesey. In 1909, however, tragedy struck the family. William, aged 65, was struck by a train at Chertsey whilst he was crossing the railway line. An Inquest was held on 22 Jun 1909, and the death certificate reads:
That deceased was accidentally knocked down by a passing train at Chertsey
whilst crossing the London & South Western Railway and instantly killed.
Misadventure.
