Additional Information
In 1871 the family was living in Bentley; in 1881, they were living at East Green, Bentley, with Frederick George RAMPTON, described as their grandson, aged 11 months. By the time of the 1891 census, Frederick is described as their son, and there is another son, Arthur, to add to the family. In 1901, only Arthur was still living at home with his parents.
Alfred Maurice was difficult to track down because, although he was baptised as Alfred Morris, his birth was registered as just Maurice, and he later married as Alfred Maurice. He married in England, but spent some years in Ceylon [Sri Lanka], as at least one of his children was born in Colombo. His son Maurice Jetten Rampton was just 19 when he was killed in 1915 at Cambrin
Frederick George served as Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Navy, on HMS Princess Margaret, and was killed in 1919 in Tallinn Estonia. I still need further details on his service and the reasons for his death so far from home. His name appears on the Bentley War Memorial, and some further details can be found on the Rampton War Memorial page.
