Additional Information
The son Thomas was certainly around in 1841, but there is no positive sighting of him in the parish registers. There is an entry in Tadley's register in 1829 for Thomas the son of Thomas and Hannah, and I have been unable to attribute this baptism to any other family, nor are there any other baptisms for the parents "Thomas and Hannah" which leads me to suspect that the Parish Clerk entered the names incorrectly. In the 1851 census, there is a Thomas of the right age, born "in Kingsclere" living in Chapel Street Thatcham, near Newbury. He gave his occupation as a Slaughterman, and is a likely candidate to be the son of Thomas the Butcher! By 1881, he has travelled a long way, and can be found working as a butcher in Bath, Gloucestershire, with a family all born in Bath.
In 1841 Thomas and Harriet were living in Tadley, although ten years later they were living in Kingsclere at the time of the 1851 Census. Only Harriet, aged 17, was still at home in 1851. When Harriet died in 1852 (and when Thomas died in 1853), the address given in the Burial Register was Near The Falcon, Kingsclere.
