Additional Information

I am indebted to Peter Claydon for the information concerning Honor's marriage and death. The rest of the information above has been gleaned from familysearch and from FreeBMD crosschecked with GRO births data.

Edward was the son of Hannah who stated she was born in Wiltshire in the 1891 census. By 1891 she had been married to Robert COPE for some years and the family, including the 28-year old Edward, lived in Hungerford BRK; Honor was a servant at The Kings Arms Inn High Street Odiham.

Edward and Honor were married in 1899, and thereafter they appear to have changed their name to SHEPHERD. In the 1901 census Honor was living with one-year-old George Edward in Odiham, HAM, with a boarder; Edward is listed in Staines MDX, designated as head of household, but no other members are included in the familysearch record. He may have been in Staines for work, because both Bertram and daughter Honor were born, or at least baptised, in Odiham, both as ZOBANAKY alias SHEPHERD. There are no ZOBANAKYs in the 1911 census, but there is a family of SHEPHERDs with the right forenames and dates/places of birth, living in Shepperton MDX. Both George Edward and daughter Honor married under the name SHEPHERD, and the death registrations for Edward, Honor, George and Bertram were all given as SHEPHERD.

Familysearch also lists a daughter, Honor May, who was born and died in 1901; this may be true, but the GRO has no record of either a birth or a death being registered for that name and year, either as Zobanaky nor Shepherd.
