Additional Information

In 1871, James was still living with his parents. By 1881 he was a widower living with his daughter Blanche at New Street Andover; William was living with his WHITCHER grandparents in New Town Basingstoke, and daughter Ann was living with her CHAPLIN grandparents in Farnborough.

In 1891, James was living in East Street Andover with a new wife, Mary Priscilla, Blanche was still with him as was his father in law Richard J TOWLER. William was still living with the WHITCHERs. I have not been able to locate Ann.

It appears that James died just before the census was taken in 1901, and Mary was living alone in Andover. Blanche was working as an Assistant School Mistress in Eton, BKM; Ann was a domestic servant in Hampstead; William was married and living in East Molesey SRY.

In 1911, Ann was living with, or visiting, James Gaines and his wife in Wisley SRY, along with her uncle Thomas CHAPLIN; she was a nurse working in a mental health hospital.

Mary Priscilla's will was proved 22 Jun 1929, and Leonard COOPER, Blanche's husband, was the named beneficiary; it would appear she had little to do with her other two step children.
