George does not appear to have married, as he is found in the 1881 census aged 54, a labourer and unmarried, living in Tadley. In the 1851 census he had been living with his parents and younger sister Rachel at Baughurst.

In 1861, George was living with his widowed mother; in 1871, George was head of household, and mother Mary was still living with him, at The Firs, Tadley. In 1881, George was alone. In 1891, he was still living in Tadley with nephew George.
