Additional Information
Hannah was only 9 years old when she lost her mother, and only 11 when her father died; she must have been cared for by a close relative until she was able to make her way in the world. It is possible that Elizabeth Stacey looked after her, along with brother William, and sister Elizabeth. When Hannah married, one of the witnesses was Elizabeth RAMPTON, presumably her younger sister. Hannah's husband, John GALE, was a coachman in domestic service, and the family were obviously settled in Bray for some time. However, when their daughters came to marry, they married in Pamber Priory Church, and it is possible to speculate that the whole family had moved back closer to Hannah's Hampshire roots. The family is seen living in Bray in the 1881 census, and in Marlow in 1901 (although John was missing). In 1911, they were still in Marlow, but only Ernest was still living with his parents.
