Additional Information
In the 1891 census, the family was living in Tadley, with Elizabeth's 19-year-old brother, Harry Smith. At the time of the 1901 census they were living in Pamber Heath, and by 1911 they had moved to Brimpton Newbury, BRK.
William Percy died of his wounds in 1917. He served as a Private with the South Lancashire Regiment, 1st/4th Battallion (Service no. 203439), having signed up in Godalming. His name appears on the memorial at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Xiii.E.2. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission website gives his wife's name as R RAMPTON of Bottom Farm Tadley Basingstoke. The following year, William's younger brother Albert, serving with the Royal Artillery, died and was buried in Greenwich Cemetery. Since the majority of war dead buried in Greenwich came from the Herbert Military Hospital or the Brook War Hospital, I assume he died of wounds sustained in France/Flanders. Both William Percy and Albert are included in the Rampton War Memorial page where you can see further details of their service.
