Additional Information

Thomas was 18, and Ann 22 when they married in 1856, Ann being the daughter of Jonathan CRIPPS and a member of a very old Tadley family. Thomas and Ann became members of the Methodist Church sometime in the mid 1860s, and two of their children were baptised in the Chapel. In 1871, the family were living at Blackfans, Pamber, together with two of Ann's relatives (brothers?). In the 1881 Census, Thomas and Ann, together with Arthur, Albert and Elizabeth, still lived at Tadley.

In the 1891 Census, only Elizabeth was still living at home, at Broadhalfpenny Tadley. In 1901, Thomas and Ann were still living in Broadhalfpenny, with 3-year old granddaughter Mabel, and it was here that Ann died in 1905. In 1911, Thomas was a visitor at the house of William BULPITT in Reading. I have been unable to find the whereabouts of either Abel or George; neither were listed in the 1881 census, but the GRO has no death entries for them either in that time period.

The family continued to have Methodists connections, but several of the children were later married in the Anglican Church.
