Who They Were
Stephen BRYER's will gave very little detail, other than mention of his executors (Reverend William JENKINS and James BOWER who also feature in Mary's will - see below) and a bequest to his wife and daughter Mary. His sons are referred to only as my other children.
Most of the information above was found in Stephen's wife Mary BRYER's will of 1823. Stephen left considerable property when he died, and individual properties, such as houses in Bristol (bequeathed to William) and the family home in St Thomas Street Weymouth (which she left to younger son Stephen). She also mentioned the proposed marriage of their only daughter Mary to Mr William TALBOT, which is also very interesting, as this name crops up also in the will of Arthur Blewert BRYER of 1879, in which he mentions various cousins called TALBOT. One of the executors of Mary's will is Thomas SABINE, and Arthur also mentions cousins called SABINE.
Despite being a professional man of some considerable substance, Stephen did not seem to be very organised when it came to his children's baptisms. I found no baptism for Mary at all, Robert and William were baptised together, although they were probably not twins, and Stephen was baptised in 1810 the son of the late Stephen Perrott BRYER according to the register entry. Since Stephen Perrott died in 1806, son Stephen was obviously born some years before his baptism.
