Additional Information

Anthony Rampton was married in Basingstoke on 16 Jul 1814 to Mary ASH, according to the IGI. In the 1851 Census Anthony (or Anthoney as it has been spelled there) was living with Mary and their youngest child, Catherine, in West Heath MS. Mary's entry states she was 55 years old, and born in Chelsea, Middlesex (therefore born circa 1796). Next door, lived his brother Christopher. However, sons Anthony and Edmund were, in 1851, already on their way to a new life in America, and it cannot have been long after that Anthony and Mary decided to join them.

I have the following information obtained from the Kindred Konnections genealogy website, which I have been unable as yet to verify: Catherine RAMPTON, born 3 Sept 1835 in Basingstoke, died 11 April 1888 Carthage Missouri. You can see the entry on Jan Devan's site. Perhaps Catherine also followed her brothers to the New World. Certainly their parents Anthony and Mary went to the New World and were there some 20 years judging by the tombstones in the Rampton Cemetery.
