Additional Information

In 1891, Joseph and Emily were living in Rosemary Road Great Clacton; Sidney McGRATH Emily's nephew was living with them while his mother settled down with her new husband. I'm intrigued by Joseph's occupation as Professor of Pitman Shorthand, and find that there is still a Pitman's Training Centre in Colchester; I wonder if that is where Joseph LINE worked?

In 1901, Emily had remarried Adam COULSON (name also spelled COALSON in some census transcriptions) and they were living in Plumstead. Adam was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, like Emily's sister in law Margaret, wife of Albert. Albert worked in the engineering field, and I wonder if he or Margaret had introduced Adam to Emily?

In 1911, Emily and Adam were still living in Plumstead with most of the children, although Eveline was working as a nurse at the Brook Fever Hospital in Greenwich KEN. There is an intriguing addition to the family, nephew Albert RAMPTON born 1905 in Kensington. I can't find an Albert born between 1900 and 1911 who isn't accounted for elsewhere. If he was Emily's nephew then he was either the son of one of her brothers, or the illegitimate son of one of her sisters; but Albert and Margaret had no children that I can find, and William George disappeared from view and seems not to have married. That leaves one of the sisters. Of the two for whom I have found no marriage data, Clara would have been 41 in 1905 and Edith would have been 40, both quite long in the tooth to be having an illegitimate child. All the others had been married for some years. There is a record of an Albert born 1905 marrying in 1935 on the Isle of Wight, bride Mary Helen MYLOR. The parish register record says his father was called Albert. Neither of the Alberts born between 1900 and 1911, one in 1903 and the other in 1909, had a father called Albert. The hunt continues for Albert's parentage.
